JCT Building carries out full house renovations across Kidderminster and the surrounding Worcestershire and West Midlands towns. A full house renovation means taking on the whole property rather than one room at a time, so the layout, structure and finishes all come together under one builder and one programme of work.
Most whole house projects we take on start with a walk round the property with the owner. We look at what is staying, what is coming out and what the house needs to work properly for the people living in it. From there we set out the order of works, from strip out and structural alterations through to the final decorative finishes. If the plans involve opening up the ground floor, moving a staircase or removing a load bearing wall, that is handled as part of the same job rather than passed on to somebody else.
The work can include structural alterations, new internal layouts, plastering, joinery, decorative brickwork and making good externally. Plenty of renovations also grow into a kitchen extension or a rear extension once the owners can see how much more they get from the space, and we are happy to price the renovation and the extension together so there is one team on site from start to finish.
Full house renovations tend to suit buyers who have taken on a tired property, owners of older homes that have never been brought up to date, and landlords or families planning to stay put and improve what they already have. They also suit anyone who would rather move out or live round one phase of the job than deal with a string of separate trades over several years.
We run the project ourselves, so you have one point of contact for the trades, deliveries and the day to day decisions. We keep the site tidy, we tell you what is happening the following week, and we flag anything we find behind the plaster before it turns into a surprise. Our working hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm. JCT Building holds Full All Risks insurance along with public and employer's liability cover.
Sometimes, depending on how much of the property is being opened up at once. Where it is possible we phase the work so one part of the house stays usable, with kitchen and bathroom access kept going for as long as we can. On heavier jobs most owners find it easier to move out for the noisy and dusty stages.
Yes. Removing walls, forming new openings and altering floor and roof structures are all part of what we do, and we work to the structural engineer's details and building control requirements. It is usually done early in the programme so the rest of the trades can follow on cleanly.
We work in Kidderminster, Stourport-on-Severn, Bewdley, Worcester, Bromsgrove, Hagley, Stourbridge, Halesowen, Droitwich Spa and Tenbury Wells, plus the wider Worcestershire and West Midlands area. If you are nearby and not sure whether we reach you, give us a ring and ask.
Tell us about the property and what you want it to be, and we will come out, take a proper look and put a price together. Call JCT Building on 07769225120 or send the details through our contact form.
